Three - #09. “Aurora Wolves”

Postby Prof. Sindor Aloyarc » Thu Jan 15, 2026 12:27 pm

By the time you reach the high tundra, the aurora is fading again, its colors pale and drained.

Finn sniffs the air. “They’re close,” he says quietly.

Then you see the wolves, made entirely of light. Their forms ripple, translucent and beautiful, each movement tracing splashes of color through the night.

The Aurora Wolves are strong keepers of the sky’s song, but the pack is scattered. Their trails tangled. A young wolf, little more than a shimmer of teal and violet mist, crouches by a frozen stream, whimpering.

“Their pack patterns aren’t forming,” Finn murmurs. “Without them, the aurora can’t dance.”

You kneel beside the young wolf. Its fur crackles faintly under your hand. “Show me how it’s meant to move,” you whisper.

The wolf hesitates, then steps forward. One pawprint glows. Then another. Slowly, you trace the steps in the snow, following its rhythm. The others begin to notice, ears pricking before joining in until the tundra becomes a field of light and motion. A living constellation.

Above, the aurora blazes back to life in streams that mirror the wolves’ movement below.

The young wolf presses its nose against your hand before bounding away to join the others.

Finn exhales. “You’re officially better at choreography than I am.”

You laugh softly, eyes lifted to the reborn sky. The path north gleams once more.
